ABOUT AARON

Aaron Burns brings experience

Aaron is the producer of Overcomer (2019), Beyond the Mask (2015), Pendragon: Sword of His Father (2008), and associate producer of SONY’s #1 box office hit War Room (2015). Aaron graduated with his Masters of Business Administration from Oakland University, and lives with his wife Andrea and two sons in Michigan.

Real life advice for YOUR journey.

Be sure to bring your big idea. Aaron will be bringing examples from projects past and present. You will supply examples of future projects. During two Master Class segments, you will have a chance to present your story ideas and your development challenges. Aaron will lead group discussions to bring Godly advice and practical solutions to your journey.



CLASS DESCRIPTION

STORY – 9-Noon

  1. Intro to Story : Biblical and historical basis for the importance of story
  2. Crafting a Story for Film : Review of story structure from leading sources (Blake Snyder, Robert McKee, etc) 
  3. Analyzing a Story : We will create "beat sheets," outlines, log lines, thematic statements, etc for several major hollywood movies.  
  4. Strengthening YOUR Story – MASTER CLASS SEGMENT : Each student pitches their idea (5 minutes), then Aaron will lead a discussion, analysis, and provide constructive feedback on your story idea. Come prepared!
  5. Wrap Up : Practical tool, resources, ideas, and suggestions on how to improve your craft. 

LUNCH – Provided – 12-1 PM

DEVELOPMENT — 1-4 PM

  1. Intro to Development : Going from a script idea to shootable film - budget, team, financing, fundraising, pitching locations, design, etc.
  2. Development Case Studies : Reviewing the development process on three different films (BTM, War Room, NEW TOP SECRET PROJECT) development/financing models 
  3. Developing YOUR Movie – MASTER CLASS SEGMENT : Each student pitches their idea (5 minutes), then Aaron will lead a discussion and help improve your plan.
  4. Wrap Up : Practical tool, resources, ideas, and suggestions on how to improve your craft.
